How To Choose Leather Shoes A Quick Guide

Leather is a material “created through the tanning of hides, pelts and skins of animals, primarily cows.” Leather shoes and boots are two items very commonly made from leather.

It’s hard to resist a pair of leather shoes, regardless of whether you are a man or a woman. Genuine leather is durable, classy, comfortable and usually expensive but worth the price because a well made pair of leather shoes can last a person for years.

Leather is sold in three forms, these being full grain leather, corrected grain leather and sued. Full grain leather is natural leather made from the finest of all raw materials and this case only the hairs have been taken away while the hide is left clean and natural. There are a variety of forms of leather and these include vegetable tanned leather, alum tanned leather (alum meaning aluminum), rawhide, boiled leather and chrome tanned leather. For men dress shoes mean leather shoes and that means oxfords. Men’s oxfords come in a variety of styles and these include open laced oxfords (or Bluchers), close laced oxfords (or Balmorals), “saddle” oxfords, “kiltie” oxfords, and “wingtip” oxfords.

Oxfords are men’s shoes that lace up and don’t come up any further than the ankle. Blucher oxfords are open laced leather dress shoes which have the sides of the shoe sewn on the front part (the top to be exact). Balmoral leather oxfords are close laced shoes in which the laces are sewn in a very unique way under the front part of the oxford and then the laces close over the tongue. The end result is a smooth, streamlined shoe that has the appearance of being constructed from only one piece of leather.

“Saddle” oxfords, as the name suggests have a piece of leather on them that is the shape of a saddle, the saddle being a different leather type or color than the rest of the shoe.

Another type of oxford shoe referred to, as “kilties” are fancy in their design with a fringed leather tongue that comes over the instep of the shoe and covers both the eyelets and the laces.

By far the most popular type of oxford shoes is the “wingtip.” This pair of fashionable men’s footwear gets its name because the toe brogueing (or leather embroidery) looks a lot like the spread of a bird’s wings.

The variety of oxford styles gives men plenty of options when shopping for business shoes. Some include a separate piece of leather that is to be found on the toe of the shoe (or the “cap toe”). Sometimes this piece of leather is plain and other times it is decorated with leather embroidery (also refined as brogueing).

Genuine leather shoes are the only way to go if you are in the market for a pair of oxfords. And black is the color to go with because all black leather oxford style shoes, regardless of the style of leather finish or structural design will complement business attire. The most formal of all men’s dress shoes are the black leather close laced oxfords (Balmorals). Not to be denied their due, open laced leather oxfords in either brown or oxblood look great when paired up with light suits and sports coats and even more relaxed, casual wear such as jeans and khakis.

Golf Shoes

Perhaps it is only in the game of Golf would the popular adage “dress for success” could ring so much true. The social status in a game of golf is never overlooked. In fact, it is often regarded as epitome of one’s success. The golf clubs, the accessories, the clothes, and the golf shoes, in a golf club everyone weighs and deliberates everybody’s interaction and belongings as a status of their success, or the fatness of their bank account.

However the adage does have other positives other than contributing to one’s social factor however minimal. It allows greater traction on the green for instance. Grass on the green can be moist sometimes, and when it is moist, occurrences of slips aren’t that uncommon especially on uncleated shoes. Some shoes also provide zany comfort useless or not, such as Nike Golf Shoes Verdana Limited’s Encapsulated Heel Air and Forefront Zoom Air which for the life of me I cannot fathom what use it serve. Maybe it is an interesting conversation piece?

Golf shoes are long regarded as a fashion accessory and nothing more. You can do as much and be comfortable besides with an ordinary cleated pair. So why do these revolutionary golf shoes still come pouring in? More fashion conceivably? You’ll be surprised at the technology that’s been embedded at golf shoes which needed really was only cleats. Why do they believe that golf shoes needs the tweaking that would allow for a little twist and let you achieve a longer drive? You be the judge. Here’s the best of them.

Nike Verdana Limited Stream Line for $34.95

* Innersole: Encapsulated Heel Air and Forefoot Zoom Air Unit
What it does: Provides responsive cushioning for the life of the shoe.

* Supple full grain leather with Water Shield waterproof membrane
What it does: Will keep the foot dry though out the round.

* T@C rubber outsole technology with LP Scorpion Spikes and Q-LOK system.

* 1 year limited waterproof warranty.

* 45 day limited comfort warranty.

Perhaps the most useful option is surprisingly only the warranties. Perhaps the cushioning would provide comfort, given the long distances the holes are spaced. Then again, golf courses are made on earth, not cement, so there could be no further cushioning needed besides what a regular shoe could afford. And did they mean the waterproof-ness of the supple grain leather is not designed to last? That would be a handy option, especially if water will begin breaking in before the warranty expires. Then again, most shoes are water proof, and they don’t carry the “Water Shield Waterproof Membrane” price tag. So, are you going to bite? Maybe all of these could be useful to you, cushioning plus waterproof plus warranty.

Plantar Fasciitis Shoes

Of the many causes of plantar fasciitis, one out of the most prevalent is an improperly fitted shoe. It is very important to pay attention to having an appropriate shoe for daily use and for sports.

A badly fitting shoe can cause painful problems in the feet, especially for athletes, and can lead to plantar fasciitis. Shoes having inadequate cushioning at the heel and the forefoot and lacking in proper support around the arch and the middle of the foot may put a lot of stress on the plantar fascia while running, jumping or exercising. Excessive pressure and stress result in pain and inflammation in the plantar fascia.

Shoes specially designed for the patients of plantar fasciitis are available and do not require additional orthotics for pain relief. These shoes come with all the built-in features to provide relief from pain and also help to overcome the deficiency in the biomechanics of the feet. Those experiencing plantar fasciitis due to abnormal gait or flat feet may use motion-controlled shoes. These shoes are designed to be heavy and inflexible, with thick heels and dual-density midsoles in order to correct the walking style of a person. These shoes are built upon a straight last

A more flexible shoe with a relatively lesser dual-density midsole and heel than the motion-controlled shoes are available for people with less severe problems. These are called stability shoes and are built upon a semi-curved last.

People suffering from planar fasciitis owing to high arches may buy shoes that are flexible and well cushioned with soft midsole. These shoes have a semi-curved or a curved last.

While buying a walking shoe, a plantar fasciitis patient must see that the shoe does not have a high heel and always bends at the ball of the foot and not at any other place. Moreover, when pushed downwards at the toe, the heel must lift upwards from a level surface. A good shoe is one that provides adequate arch support, is sufficiently cushioned both at the heels and the midsole, and is flexible. The shoe should blend with the natural walking motion of the wearer.

For a plantar fasciitis patient, it would be beneficial to get expert advice from a technical shoe store salesperson who would weigh all the factors including the weight, stride, gait, and walking distance before suggesting the right shoe. The best shoe is the one that gives the greatest walking comfort.
